This class will feature a scholarly translation and commentary on Imam Nawawi’s hadith collection Riyādh al-Sālihīn, an authoritative guide for all who wish to live in conformance to the prophetic prescription to “Be in this World as if a Stranger, or A Traveler Down a Path.”
Intro to Maliki Fiqh

This course will start the student from a rudimentary explanation of the `aqidah or creed of the people of the sunnah, and will go on to cover ritual purity, prayer, fasting, zakat, hajj, and the law of slaughter and ritual sacrifice, all in great detail. All classes will be conducted using the Arabic text, which will be translated in class. Knowledge of the Arabic language is not a requirement to benefit from the class as all texts will be translated as they are taught, however, there is much benefit for students who can read and understand Arabic.
Advanced Maliki Fiqh

This course will cover advanced topics such as marriage, divorce, business transactions, criminal law, the Islamic court, witnessing, inheritance and various customs of the sunnah. Knowledge of the Arabic language is not a requirement to benefit from the class as all texts will be translated as they are taught however there is much benefit for students who can read and understand Arabic. This course is ideal for the student who has mastered the material from the introductory course, however, if a student who has not previously taken or mastered the introductory course wishes to take the advanced course, they may do so, granted that they concurrently take the introductory course.
